After reading some of the completely disgusting posts from the GUPIs at the I.S. boards earlier today, I can only shake my head at their pettiness, spite and vindictiveness, even when it has now been proven that they were WRONG.
One or two of them couldn't resist making snarky comments about Cindy's lifestyle, and no doubt deeply resent the fact that she is now free. They were so convinced of her "guilt" based on their small-minded disapproval that they couldn't stand the idea they could in fact be wrong. I'm sure they're disappointed that they can't pin a scarlet letter on her too!
I remember saying in an earlier thread here that Cindy's trial bore a stark resemblance to the Salem Witch Trials of 1692/93. Reading more of the petty posts from the GUPIs is strong evidence that the 1690's witch trial mindset is still alive and well in 2008. I thought we had come further than that. What a miserable shame that many of us have not.

I know what you mean... _________________ Justice is conscience, not a personal conscience but the conscience of the whole of humanity. Those who clearly recognize the voice of their own conscience usually recognize also the voice of justice.

I encountered a poster from IS (a pretty popular one) at another forum in the days following Cyndi's exoneration and I was shocked! She admitted that it "appears" she has been wrong about Cyndi but that she still would pray for her second husband should Cyndi ever remarry - the insinuation was clear. She felt no pity that a woman spent over two years in jail for a crime that never occurred. And of course, the prosecution did no wrong and "the system worked" as far as she was concerned.
She went on to admit that she believes everyone that is charged is guilty. My reply was that I hope that she never serves on a jury. Her response - she's served on two juries. She said that in her normal everyday life, she gives no one the benefit of innocent until proven guilty. But as soon as she entered the jury box, she "changed hats" so to speak and gave the defendants a fair shake. I called BS on that. _________________ "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing."

I'd call BS on that one too. People who give no one the benefit of innocent until proven guilty make only ONE exception. They make it for THEMSELVES, or for someone in their immediately family/friends circle. Everyone else is "guilty" if they happen to be accused of something. I wonder if they know how easy it is for a person to be either falsely or mistakenly accused of a crime. Of course, it would "NEVER" happen to them, would it.
